Class 12 student murdered by neighbour
A 17-year-old Class 12 student was murdered by his neighbour near Ponmalai after an altercation arose with a 35-year-old resident for urinating in the open in the locality. The 35- year old was aided by another 17-year-old to murder him, late night on Wednesday. His relatives ransacked the house of accused on Thursday.

According to the Ponmalai police, Karthik Kumar (17) was residing on Kamarajar Street in Ponmalai with his mother Santhi, a sanitary worker of the city corporation. Karthik Kumar, who has been studying in a private school in the same locality went to meet his friend M Riyaz Raj near the North D gate of Ponmalai on Wednesday evening. Since his friend was not around at the place, Karthik Kumar was chatting with Hari Sudhan, another friend.
Meanwhile, Karthik Kumar attended nature’s call in a secluded spot in the locality. While Lakshmanan (35) a resident of the same locality, began to argue with Karthik for doing so in a public place. It turned ugly and they were about to exchange blows until Hari Sudhan intervened and pacified them. Karthik Kumar and Hari Sudhan left the spot. However, Lakshmanan is alleged to have been exasperated over the heated arguments.
Unable to hold his anger any longer, he interrupted Karthik Kumar and his mother, who were walking towards their house. Lakshmanan beat both of them badly and stabbed Karthik Kumar in vital places.
Karthik died on the spot and Santhi, who was also injured, was taken to the hospital. The police registered a case based on the complaint given by Santhi leading to the arrest of Lakshmanan.
Meanwhile, relatives of Karthik Kumar ransacked Lakshmanan’s house. However, police rushed to the spot and asked them to get away.
