Don’t blame me if government collapses: TTV Dinakaran

Continuing his tirade against chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and his cabinet colleagues, ‘ousted’ deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran on Wednesday said that with all the in-fighting, the government looks like a glass bottle and that he cannot be held responsible if it breaks.

Dinakaran also said that there was no connect between the party and the ruling dispensation. He added that there were certain groups in the party who were trying to gain control through in-house politics. Reacting to finance minister D Jayakumar’s statement a day earlier when he called people trying to destabilise the AIADMK government as traitors, Dinakaran said that Jayakumar should look in the mirror to see the “ettappan” (traitor).

Speaking about state forest minister Dindigul C Sreenivasans’ accusations against him, Dinakaran said, “It was AIADMK(A) general secretary VK Sasikala who gave Srinivasan a new lease of life when he had no political clout for over a decade. Sreenivasan should realise that all the posts he enjoyed in the party came only through Sasikala. Is Sreenivasan willing to make such charges after he first resigns from his post?” The former deputy general secretary also said that ministers were playing a double game. “If I release details of how ministers fell at Sasikala’s feet, they will be in trouble. The government is like a glass bottle. We cannot be held responsible if it breaks.”

Dinakaran also asked ministers to stop levelling accusations against others and solve people’s problems. “If they do not follow Amma’s way, they will face real danger” he said. When asked about his allegation that MLAs who supported him were prevented from travelling to Melur to attend his meeting, Dinakaran said, “Some MLAs were taken to the party headquarter where they were told that if they went to Melur no work would be undertaken in their constituency.”
