Notice issued to recruit drawing teachers
The Madras High Court has ordered notice to the Teachers Recruitment Board, Chennai and Secretary, Department of School education, on a plea seeking to appoint special teachers for the posts of drawing teachers as per the School Education Subordinate Special Rules.
Chennai
Justice SM Subramaniam, before whom the petition filed by Thirupathi, who holds a TTC Certificate course in drawing, came up for hearing, directed the authorities to file their counter within four weeks.
The petitioner, who was appointed as part-time drawing teacher on a consolidated pay, contended that a notification on July 20, 2017 had mentioned the qualification as a Diploma (5 Years) course awarded by Director of Technical Education and a Bachelor degree awarded by Madras University or Bharathiyar University for appointment as drawing teachers.Â
Noting that the qualifications mentioned are over and above the qualifications mentioned in the special rules, the petitioner submitted that this will invite more applications for the post and result in a stiff competition. He said the qualification prescribed was not in tune with the qualification spelt out in the special rules and hence persons like him possessing the required qualification and experience as per special rules may not be selected.Â
