    The Madras High Court has directed the Secretary, School Education Department, to file an affidavit pertaining to the steps taken to enhance the quality of education to enable students take on all India competition.

    The direction comes in the wake of a petition by V Ramalingam of Kancheepuram seeking the two committees- a 10-member curriculum Framework Committee and 13-member High Level Committee, which function as court-monitored committees are allowed to function without any interference. The case has been posted for further hearing to August 23.
    Justice N Kirubakaran on hearing the plea said, “As the committee have already started functioning and have to file reports at the earliest, to enhance the standard of education in consonance with international standards in the advanced area of technology, the government shall not either make any changes in the named committee members including the Secretary, School Education Department and other bureaucrats or disturb their functioning, in any manner.” The judge also lauded the state for constituting both the committees.
