Stalin pats Karnataka CM on Ambedkar meet
Congratulating Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on the successful conduct of the ‘historic’ Dr B R Ambedkar International Conference “with the honest intention of question of equity” last month, DMK working president M K Stalin on Saturday assured to give wide publicity in his party organ ‘Murasoli’ to the “Bengaluru Declaration” adopted during the conclave.

Acknowledging the July 31 letter of the Karnataka CM, Stalin said, “It is the need of the hour that all the states in India adopt the ideals of Ambedkar in true letter and spirit and strive unfailingly to uphold the basic structures of the Constitution to respect “Unity in Diversity” and to reinforce the strong pillars of National Integration further.”
Recalling the various welfare schemes implemented by the DMK, mainly Samathuvapuram, equal property rights for women and reservation for minorities, the Leader of Opposition in his letter to Siddaramaiah said, “The DMK is the party for social justice and equity to the SC/ST/OBC, Women and Minorities in India.”
Some of the salient recommendations of the “Bengaluru Declaration” were implemented by the DMK government in Tamil Nadu as a mark of great respect and honour to the visions of Self-respect Movement leader Thanthai Periyar and to the equity principles of Ambedkar, the LoP added.
DMK party always stands for the freedom guaranteed under the fundamental rights of the Constitution and whenever there was an attempt to encroach the democratic and Constitutional rights of the people, it was the DMK which fought vociferously and protested to protect the rights enshrined in the Constitution, Stalin remarked.
