However, Jayaraman is still in the prison as final verdict in the bail petition in the case filed for protesting against the ONGC project and attacking policemen is yet to be delivered.

The protest against the ONGC project was staged on July 30 at Kathiramangalam village and it

turned violent in which three policemen sustained injuries. Following that Jayaraman along with

nine others were arrested and were remanded to Tiruchy Central Prison. A bail petition was filed in the High Court and after the hearings the bench had reserved the final orders in the case.

Recently, Jayaraman’s father passed away and he was granted an interim bail. Even that bail period ended and he was lodged back in the prison. In the meantime, the ONGC had filed a case against Jayaraman with Pandanallur police claiming that the professor had damaged the properties of the company.

A case was filed against Jayaraman based on it. Jayaraman moved a bail petition in the ONGC case against him. On Monday, Justice V Bharathidasan granted the same. Though the professor was granted bail in this case, he has to be in prison as the other bail plea in the protest case against him is still pending.
