31 booked for attacking police in Nanguneri

Thirty one persons including nine women, were booked for allegedly attacking policemen and taking away an accused at Nanguneri in Tirunelveli district, on Sunday.Â

When Udayakumar was being escorted to the court in a van, a gang from Marunkalkurichi intercepted it and asked the police personnel to free the accused. But the police personnel refused. The gang began attacking the policemen with deadly weapons and took away Udayakumar. Injured policemen informed the higher officials.
 After a detailed investigation, a case was booked against 31 persons. However, Marunkalkurichi residents alleged that policemen in the name of checking had damaged the properties in their houses.
