The petitioner K Mahapriya (26) from Unjampatti from Theni filed a writ petition at the HC, stating that her husband, Kalaivannan (34), went missing on February 2.  He had previous enmity with the owner of the bike showroom, Sannasi, who is a relative of Panneerselvam. On February 2, Kalaivanan’s brother, Chandrabose, received a call that Kalaivanan was stabbed and then there was no further information of him . She suspects that her husband might have been murdered. She also filed a man missing case at Allinagaram police station, but Kalaivanan was yet to be traced. Hence, Mahapriya prayed the court to intervene and direct the police to produce him in the court. During an earlier hearing, Theni SP submitted that 25 special teams were formed and Kalaivanan is being searched. Even the investigation officer in the case had been changed. But, on Monday, Judges MM Sundaresh and N Sathishkumar said that as there was no improvement in the probe, the case would be transferred to CB-CID.Â
TNCA told to set up facilities at Tirunelveli groundÂ
The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Monday directed the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) and Tirunelveli district administration to provide basic amenities at the ICL Ground in Tirunelveli.
Petitioner Rajan from Tirunelveli, in his PIL, had stated that the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) had commenced on July 23 and the matches for Tuti Patriots team had been scheduled at the ICL Ground at Sankar Nagar in Tirunelveli. Â The matches will go on till August 18 and nearly 12 league matches and a semi-final match have been scheduled to be played at the ground. But, the ground is devoid of basic amenities. Apart from that there is only one entrance to the ground and in times of emergency people will not be able to rush out of the stadium. Also the stadium is located close to National Highways and already a lot of accidents happen in the area. Hence the court should direct the TNCA to stop conducting the matches at ICL Ground and shift the venue of the proposed matches. The petition was heard by Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice Pushpa Sathyanarayana and following the hearing, the court had directed the TNCA and Tirunelveli district administration to provide basic amenities and correct the problems at the ICL ground. The Judges also disposed the petition and allowed the matches to be conducted till August 18.Â
