Digitally register instances of graft with government: Kamal Haasan

In his first response to attacks by ministers, including Palaniswami, that he take the political plunge to expect a response to his allegations, the 62 year-old actor said last night that he had become an "amateur politician" the day he expressed his views against the imposition of Hindi.

Responding to ministers demanding proof for his charges of corruption in government, he said the entire state was making allegations in this regard and there were various media reports too.

The actor said his detractors, "dear younger brother (D) Jayakumar (Finance Minister)", who wanted him to take the political plunge, or BJP's H Raja, were not aware that he has already entered politics.

"The day I expressed my voice against imposition of Hindi, I had become an amateur politician," he said in a statement uploaded on his Twitter page.

Without naming anyone, he said "those behind power" and those "who forgot their responsibility by accepting money" were threatening action against him for tax evasion.

This made him angry and was also laughable, he said.

On ministers seeking evidence from him, he said people were there to remind them of corruption.

"You should write to them if you had come across corruption in this government. Don't do that through letters or post card as they will just tear them. Record them digitally, and with dignity," he said.

While the people would voice their concerns with regard to the government departments, he would do the same for his own department, "cinema", he said.

The veteran actor alleged widespread corruption in giving tax exemption to films, adding that many, apparently from the film industry, aided such corruption "out of fear".

However, he added that there were a few exceptions like him.

"People are not herds. Respect their voices. They will be heard clearly soon," Kamal Haasan said.

He also provided a digital link to a state government website for people to air their grievances.
