After casting his vote for the presidential polls at the Secretariat, Stalin spoke about actor Kamal Haasan’s comments about corruption, saying the actor was only making statements about commonly known cases of corruption.

Referring to the Income Tax raids at the Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar and its cascading effects and the recent ‘ghutkha’ scam, allegedly by senior police officials, Stalin said that he was ready to face the challenge.

“We had been raking up the corruption issues in the House and as well as before the people along with several other issues plaguing the government. Like politicians, every denizen can criticise the government. This is what Kamal too has done.

For this, some in the cabinet are threatening the actor. This is undemocratic,” Stalin said. Rebel faction leader and former Chief Minister O Panneerselvam too observed that everybody in a democratic country can have their opinion and can express the same aloud.

“The state should take this as feedback and should act on it. On a personal note, I feel the state seems to be lethargic in dispensing its duties,” OPS said.

TNCC president Su Thirunavukkarasar who came to the Secretariat to meet his party legislators taking part in the presidential polls condemned Law Minster C Ve Shanmugam for the latter’s threat to book Kamal under protection of Civil Rights act.

“The Minsters should stop making such kind of statements,” Thirunavukkarasar said. Meanwhile members of the ruling party lashed out at Kamal Haasan for his allegations, saying there was no truth in what the actor said.
