Petitioner KK Ramesh, in his PIL, stated that the state government, on May 22, had rolled out a GO which stated that the Class 11 exams would be under the ambit of public exams and marks obtained in these would  be required for college admissions.  He stated that this would put a lot of burden on students, already studying hard for the Class 12 and SSLC public exam.

Similarly, parents too would face unnecessary stress in preparing their children for the exams. Hence the court should cancel the GO, prayed the petitioner. The public prosecutor said that schools usually prepare the students only for the Class 12 exams for two years and hence students face problems when they join college. Also, these changes were made based on the recommendations of expert committee. Following the argument, next hearing of the case was adjourned to July 19.
