Stating that both the government medical colleges have 150 seats each, Dr Edwin Joe, Director, Medical Education, said, “Increasing the number of seats to 250 each will ensure that they have similar status like MMC and Stanley Medical College. As the two colleges have the necessary infrastructure, the number of seats is being increased.”
“Last year, we got an additional 150 seats for Pudukkottai. Every year, our aim is to start a new medical college with a capacity of 150 seats or increase the number of seats in medical colleges which already have 100 seats,” he added.
Among the slew of announcements that were made by the Health Department in the State Assembly on Tuesday, included the introduction of Amma Health Radio Service.
