TANCEM pins hopes on proposed Ariyalur unit
TANCEM (Tamil Nadu Cements) is expecting to double its production once the proposed Ariyalur unit with a capacity of 10 lakh tonnes comes through, an official release said. At present, the cement corporation has an annual production of 7 lakh tonnes leading to an annual turnover of Rs 750 crore.

To help ensure that work is undertaken on time, the state government through TIDCO (TN Industrial Development Corporation) plans to provide a Rs 1 crore integrated software. In the first phase, tabs for 25 top officials of the cement corporation at an estimated cost of Rs 25 lakh have been provided.Â
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy inaugurated the new software, which would reveal cement stocks in the state godowns, cement demand, sales details and the number of waitlisted customers, the release added. The software also enables transparency.Â
TANCEM aims to ensure that all local needs are met by it given that its rate per 50 kg bag is only Rs 190 compared to the Rs 350 charged by private companies. Top 10 officials received the tabs from the Chief Minister at the Secretariat, the released added. Industries Minister MC Sampath, chief secretary Girija Vaidyanathan and TANCEM MD D Sabita  were present.
