    60-year-old kills wife suspecting fidelity

    A 60-year-old man was arrested in Coimbatore city for murdering his wife by slitting her throat in their house near Ramanathapuram in the city on Sunday night.

    The police identified the accused as Munnah (60) a night watchman in a private firm and the victim as Ramjabegam (54), who are residents of Karunanidhi Nagar in Old Sungam. The couple were married in 1983 and have three sons and a daughter, who are married. Police said on Sunday night, Munnah slit his wife’s throat while she was sleeping. Ramanathapuram police who arrested him said that he confessed to murdering his wife as he suspected her fidelity.

    Man hacked in Pudukkottai

    A 38-year-old man was hacked to death on Monday by three siblings over a previous enmity. It is said, F Jesudasan (38), a fisherman from Manamelgudi in Pudukkottai, had a prolonged enmity with Stalin Selvakumar (42) of the same area. On April 11, Jesudasan picked up a quarrel with Stalin and reportedly assaulted him. Based on his complaint, Jesudasan was arrested and remanded. Meanwhile, on June 22, Jesudasan came out on bail and Stalin was waiting for an opportunity to assault Jesudasan. On Sunday night, while Jesudasan was walking on the street, Stalin Selvakumar and his brothers Jayaprakash (37) and Rajkamal (35) reportedly picked up a quarrel with him.

    Suddenly, Rajkamal took an aruval and assaulted him in which Jesudasan sustained severe cut injuries and fell on the ground in a pool of blood and died on the spot. On seeing Jesudasan dead, the sibling escaped from the spot. Aranthangi DSP Dhakshinamurthy who conducted investigations formed three teams as per the instructions of the SP. Further investigation is on.

    Tiruchuzhi DSP killed as car rams tree

    A Deputy Superintendent of Police was killed when the car which he was driving rammed a tree at Palavanatham village near Aruppukottai on the  Virudhunagar-Aruppukottai road in Virudhunagar district on Monday evening.

    Police sources said that R Vetrivel (54), who is serving as DSP of Tiruchuzhi in Virudhunagar district, was on his way to Aruppukottai in a private car, when the tragedy occurred. The senior police officer in plain clothes while driving the vehicle suddenly lost control following which the car hit a neem tree.

    The Deputy Superintendent of Police, who suffered serious head injuries, was rescued by the passers-by from the mangled remains of the car and was immediately rushed to the government headquarters hospital. However, doctors at the government hospital declared him “brought dead.” A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
