Madurai-Bodi line 1st division by March 2018
The first division of Madurai-Bodi line, from Madurai to Usilampatti, will be completed by March 2018, said Neenu Ittyerah, Divisional Railway Manager(DRM) Madurai, Southern Railways, at Madurai, on Saturday.

Addressing the media, the DRM said that priority has been given to the first division of the ongoing gauge conversion work at Madurai-Bodi line, adding that it will be completed by March 2018. “Once the first division is completed on time, work in the other divisions will be taken up. When the line gets materialised, there will be changes in Madurai junction,” said the DRM.
She also said that platform surfacing work at Madurai Junction would be carried out soon. “Once it is completed, the lighting and visibility will become much better.”
“Brighter, cleaner and easy access to Madurai junction are my priorities. Woman facilitation centre at the station would be shifted to a much prominent place and the space in front of booking counters will be identified stay of passengers,” she added.
Earlier, Union Railways Minister Suresh Prabhu, inaugurated host of passenger amenities through video conferencing at Madurai railway station.
