Trekking, biking activities on cards at Pachamalai

Presently, Pachamalai tourism provides only stay and food services. With the proposed projects, tourist flow is expected to double. Pachamalai hill station is a mountain series located in the Eastern Ghats and is located 800 feet above the ocean level. 

Though the resort is located in the middle of the mountains and also has some artificial waterfalls nearby, it does not attract many visitors. “The forest department has constructed five tree houses and two dormitories. Trekking routes (3 km and 12 km) have also been created. 

A seasonal water fall in Periapakkalam is an added attraction. We have trained tribal people to enact a special street play as per the demands of the guests,” said N Sathish, District Forest Officer. 

Meanwhile, the DFO stated that the forest department has planned to promote adventure tourism. Activities like mountaineering (artificial and real), cliff rope sliding and mountain biking will shortly be introduced.
