Sources said Anupama, who gave birth to a girl child at SAT Hospital here on June 9, sold the infant to a couple in Tamil Nadu for Rs 3 lakh leading to a police case against her following the State Human Rights Commission sending a notice to the state government.

Meanwhile, the officials of the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare have visited her home and adopted six-year-old son and threeyear-old daughter. The woman, who returned home from the hospital, told neighbours that the child died during delivery.

The issue came into light when the neighbours who got suspicious over the incident sent a complaint letter to the offices of the Chief Minister and the Health Minister.

Later, the woman who has been admitted to the Social Health Centre in Kattakkada was produced before the court by the police. The police also filed a case against a person who brokered the deal between the Tamil family and the woman.
