While allaying the fears of purported dengue outbreak during a call attention moved by Madathukulam MLA R Jayaramakrishnan and Palani MLA IP Senthil Kumar in this regard.

Crediting the fever surveillance report and 90 ELISA centres set up in the state, Vijay Baskar observed that there was no outbreak of dengue here. He observed that the Directorate of Public Health control room is monitoring the fever surveillance report from the ones obtained from all 1,226 labs attached to the Government Hospital.
“In case of fever, the public are urged to go to the nearest Government Hospital. Once the ELISA test was taken, the results would be known within 24 hours establishing the type of fever. There is no reason to be afraid of mystery fever as such”, Vijaya Baskar said.
‘Hot spots’ will be set up, where sporadic cases of fever were recorded in Thoothukudi, Tirupur, Sankarankoil, Puliangudi, Kadaiyanallur, Palani and Udumalaipet. In sequel, two Directors were deputed to control the situation with assistance from multiple departments including those from the portfolio of Municipal Administration Minister SP Velumani.
