During investigation, police found out that he was under treatment for mental illness at the Institute of Mental Health at Kilpauk. Police sent him with his parents after booking a case on charges of public nuisance.
However, the man again approached the family, demanding address of Sathya prompting her father to lodge a police complaint. Police then arrested Parthipan on charges of attempt to murder and admitted him to the Institute of Mental Health at Kilpauk.
