Municipal Administration Minister SP Velumani has said that it is everyone’s wish that Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy and the party’s Puratchi Thalaivi Amma faction leader O Panneerselvam should join hands and save the party’s ‘Two Leaves’ symbol that was frozen by the Election Commission two months ago.

The minister was talking to reporters at the Coimbatore airport after seeing off the Chief Minister on his way to Chennai on Sunday. Stating that all the 123 MLAs who voted for Palanisamy in the vote of confidence were united, he expressed satisfaction over the functioning of the present government.

Responding to a query on Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan’s allegation that the ministers in Tamil Nadu were divided over establishing the AIIMS hospital in the state and that the Chief Minister is also not extending support for the same, Velumani said that the state government is extending the same support that late chief minister J Jayalalithaa gave to the Centre.

However, he refused to answer a question regarding the long awaited local body elections in the state, citing a case pending in the court.
