It is said, Panchapakesan, a medical shop owner from Tirukattupalli in Thanjavur district, was murdered on June 26, 2015 by an unidentified gang and a case was booked against 14 persons, including the former panchayat chief of Tiruchanampoondi village Rengaraj, his brothers Senthil Kumar (37) and Saravanan, Vincent (35) and Raja of Tiruchy. The accused persons were arrested but were out on bail.Â
In this backdrop, wedding of Raja’s sister took place at Tiruchy in which the other accused, Senthil Kumar and Vincent, participated. After the marriage, at 5 pm, both Senthil Kumar and Vincent had reportedly returned to Tirukattupalli via Oyamari cremation centre in Tiruchy on a bike. When they crossed the crematorium, a car followed them and hit their bike and knocked them down.Â
Soon, a five-member gang from the car started attacking them with lethal weapons in which the duo sustained severe cut injuries on head, neck and chest, leading to their death. Subsequently, the gang fled the scene. On information, the Fort police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies.Â
