Kiran Bedi makes surprise inspection at police control room
As part of her 81st weekend morning round up, Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi on Sunday visited the Sri Puthai Mariyamman temple at Karuvadikuppam here. According to a release, bicycling from Rajnivas, the Lt Governor also made a surprise inspection at the police control room at Gorimedu.

At Sri Puthai Mariyamman Temple, the Lt Governor was welcomed by temple trustees and state BJP president V Swaminathan. Bedi commenced the Ashtabandhana Mahakumbabisheka celebrations by lighting the lamp.
The Lt Governor said the community leaders must work with the residents and speak more in one voice for creating the spirit “We all together” for cleanliness. After worshipping the deity, she said that the community leaders should go shop to shop, house to house and street to street to ensure that every citizen was made aware of his responsibility.
Earlier, on the way to the temple and police control room, the Lt Governor honoured the sanitation workers of Swachhata Corporation, who were at work on the streets. The Municipality Commissioner, the Manager of Swachhata Corporation joined her in honouring the sanitation workers with shawls. At the police control room, the Lt Governor observed that the Call Records Register ought to be updated with the time log of actions taken, cross reference of general diary entry of police station concerned be recorded and closure reports entered. The register also had to be periodically checked by senior officers with closure made by checking the satisfaction of complainants, she instructed.
Bedi viewed that steps need to be taken to computerise the data of call records with periodical analysis. The senior officers were also advised to consult the technical personnel to overcome the bulk of blank calls that are received in the Police Radio Control Room.
