108 plans app to save time for quick service
he waiting time to avail 108 ambulance service is likely to go down as the popular emergency healthcare provider will be launching soon its app-based service, announced state health minister C Vijaya Baskar here on Friday.

The GVK-EMRI (Emergency Management and Research Institute), which runs the emergency response service, is working on the app.
Speaking on the National Pilot Day, which was organised by the 108-ambulance management in the city, the Minister said, “we can easily identify caller’s location through the proposed app and the service is sure to cut the waiting time in a big way.”
This significant move will immensely benefit patients as they could be provided quick treatment in government hospitals and primary health centres (PHCs), he added.
Health Secretary J Radhakrishnan lauded the performance of the personnel of 108 ambulance service. “Your work is 99.9% correct. You should reach more people, even as awareness of 108 service has reached nook and corner,” he said.
B Prabudoss, who heads GVK-EMRI’s marketing and hospital relations in the state, said that 855 such ambulances have been pressed into services across Tamil Nadu. “At present, 1,927 pilots are working and they play a major role in saving lives.
Further-more, they are working hard round the clock,” he said.
Pilot Day is organised in honour of 108 ambulance drivers who are officially called pilots.
During the function, a total of 46 pilots from across the state were honoured for their good services
