Activists storm into Tamil Nadu House in Delhi

The activists were believed to have allegedly breached security at Tamil Nadu House to petition the CM about an “illegal” slaughterhouse functioning in Tiruchy. 

“Our volunteers were waiting since morning to meet Palanisamy to raise the issue of missing cattle and illegal slaughterhouse functioning in Tiruchy,” Poonam Kumar, an activist of Dhyan foundation, said. When we insisted on meeting the CM, by holding a sit-in inside the house, the police and TN House staff stopped and misbehaved with us, she alleged.

A senior officer at the House told DTNext over phone that they had approached the Resident Commissioner only on Tuesday seeking appointment to meet the CM, which was near impossible. “They were stopped while trying to breach security and reach the first floor where the CM was staying. Our security officials were very polite. They had only tried to explain to the activists that they would be removed from the place if they did not leave. Our security officials, instead of saying removed, used the word ‘eliminate’. It was a mere communication gap,” the officer explained. 

“Would they be able to storm into other State Houses like this? Our cops were polite and tried to explain to the activists instead of forcibly evicting them for breaching security,” the officer explained, adding that the CM called two of the activists and received their petitions.
