Taking a dig at the jubilee celebrations for the DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi’s entry into the Assembly, he termed the event as a farce. The minister said that the celebrations by the DMK was aimed at gaining political mileage.
Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, after garlanding the statue of King Perumpidugu Mutharayyar, Radhakrishnan said, the previous BJP-led NDA government headed by former Prime Minister AB Vajpayee initiated all steps to establish an AIIMS in the state. But the Tamil Nadu government had showed least interest in the initiative. “This is not good for any government, which is focused on the development of the state,” he cautioned.
He reiterated that the state was not showing adequate interest to fulfil the demands of the people of Tiruchy.
“On the contrary, the Centre is keen on supporting the state in projects like the ring road, integrated bus stand and expansion of airport,” he claimed.
He further alleged that both the Dravidian parties have cheated the people of Tamil Nadu for long. Though they claim themselves to be farmer-friendly, both the DMK and AIADMK have always initiated measures treating the agricultural community only as a vote bank, he remarked.
The Union Minister charged that the Dravidian majors had created a generation, which does not know Tamil. “They came to power using Tamil as a tool. But, both the parties in the state have created a generation which does not know Tamil and they are responsible for this sorry state,” he added.
