Tell PSU banks not to issue notice: Ryots
Farmers have been repeatedly appealing to the district administration in every grievance day meetings to instruct bankers not to send legal notices for default in repayment of farm loans.

The farmers’ association has sought the help of State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) - Tamil Nadu appealing to instruct the nationalised banks to stop sending legal notices to farmers who have been affected by drought.
According to Puliyur Nagarajan, president (TMC farmers’ wing), farmers have been repeatedly appealing to the district administration in every grievance day meetings to instruct bankers not to send legal notices for default in repayment of farm loans.
“More than 100 farmers from the district have received the legal notices mentioning the attachment of the properties”, said Puliyur Nagarajan.
In Thanjavur, the farmers protested outside the monthly grievance redress meeting hall for immediate payment of crop insurance claims settlement for the crop loss during the last two years.
The meeting was presided over by A Annadurai, district collector, who in his initial remarks said that if the farmers submitted the application with VAO certificates, permission would be accorded within 24 hours for taking silt from 657 water bodies across the district.
Meanwhile, Tholagirippatti P Thangaraju thanked the district collector and the CEO of Arignar Anna Sugar Mills for sanctioning Rs 38 crore for payment of arrears to the cane growers.
A group of farmers led by Kakkarai R Sukumaran, the district president of Tamilaga Vivasayigal Sangam, urged the Collector for payment of insurance claims to those who had insured their crop in the 2015-16 season and to expedite payment of the claims for 2016-17.
