    New buildings for hostels, registration department

    Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy on Wednesday inaugurated several government buildings, including hostels for students and subregistrar offices via video conferencing from the Secretariat.

    An official release here said, the hostel for adi-dravidar college girls at Tiruttani in Tiruvallur, built at a cost of Rs 84.63 crore, was inaugurated by the Chief Minister. The building could accommodate 50 students. Similarly, two hostels for backward and most backward school students in Thoothukudi, to accommodate 100 students, was also opened. The buildings were constructed at a cost of Rs 1.68 crore. 

    The CM also inaugurated backward classes economic development corporation office in Egmore, which was built at a cost of Rs 2.84 crore, women’s hostel for backward class welfare college at Bodinayakanur in Theni built at a cost of Rs 1.45 crore and men’s hostel for backward classes welfare polytechnic college at Palani in Dindugul district at a cost of Rs 1.45 crore. Similarly, boys hostel for students of Backward Classes Welfare School in Poondi in Tiruvallur at a cost of Rs 84 lakh was also opened. 

    The Chief Minister also inaugurated sub registrar office buildings at Sendhurai in Dindugul, Kalaiyarkoil in Sivaganga, Kallidakurichi in Tirunelveli, Colachel in Kanniyakumari, Pammal in Kancheepuram, Vikkriamangalam in Ariyalur which were built at a cost of Rs 58 lakh each. Also, a joint registrar office building at Kancheepuram was built at a cost of Rs 50 lakh was also opened. 

    Adi-dravidar welfare minister VM Rajalakshmi, principal secretary P Annamalai and chief secretary Girija Vaidyanathan participated.
