    Central funds for tourism: Pondy CM

    Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Wednesday said the Centre had agreed to provide Rs 124 crore for tourism development in the Union Territory.

    Speaking at a function to distribute Rs 53.6 lakh to 1165 children of the members of construction workers welfare board, the Chief Minister said he, along with Tourism Minister Malladi Krishnarao, met the Union Tourism Minister and requested for funds, which he agreed to provide, for the renovation of heritage buildings here and to develop tourism.

    Stating that the cooperation of the officials is a must to implement schemes in the right way, the Chief Minister said the UT had suffered a revenue loss to the tune of Rs 400 crore due to demonetisation of higher value currencies, closure of liquor shops on directions from the Supreme Court and problems to real estate business because of High Court directives.
