Former directors of housing society held
Based on the complaint by the Thanjavur Regional Sub-Registrar of Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB), sleuths from Commercial Crime Investigation Wing (CCIW) of CID on Monday arrested six former directors of Nagapattinam circle housing board co-operative society limited ion charges of misappropriating the society’s fund.

It is said that the co-operative society was started here in Nagapattinam in 2013. Officials had sold 12,282 sq ft land owned by the society between June 2013 and March 2014 in Tharasuram.
The regional deputy registrar suspected something fishy over the sale and he made an inquiry. It was found that while government fixation was Rs 350 per sq ft, the officials had sold it for Rs.150. With this, a sum of Rs 24,56,400 was looted by the officials, the CCIW official stressed. FIR has been filed against 8 persons.
While five have been arrested, a search is on for three.
