Going the extra mile for brand Edappadi K Palanisamy
At a time when merger talks between the two warring AIADMK factions remain deadlocked, the ruling majority faction led by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy has started promoting brand EPS gradually. Even as doubt lingers over whether they had truly severed ties with the Sasikala clan, Chief Minister Palanisamy has started doing a Modi to jack up his popularity.

It became evident when Palanisamy captured a selfie with a school kid mid-flight on his way to Chennai from Madurai a few ago back.Â
PR managers in Fort St George were understood to have put extra effort to get maximum publicity for the selfie, first by Palanisamy in his elaborate political career.Â
The amount of details put in to his image building was so vast and the planning was so meticulous that they had almost outmanoeuvred rival O Panneerselvam camp when both sections chose the same date and time to hold rallies on Friday.Â
Knowing well that his predecessor OPS was making pot shots against them in Kancheepuram just at the same time he was addressing a function in Madurai, the chief minister dropped the sand mining bomb shell.Â
News channels which were flashing OPS tirade against EPS and company were kept completely engaged when the CM announced that the government would take over all sand quarrying operations across the state in three years. Even government sources in the know of things admitted that the sand mining announcement was planned to overshadow OPS Kancheepuram meet.Â
The CM is learnt to be taking counsel from four cabinet colleagues, Dindigul C Srinivasan, S P Velumani, Thangamani and Vellamandi Natarajan to boost his popularity quotient.Â
Apart from planning tours across the state, chief minister’s office, as a part of its publicity blitzkrieg, has also instructed party MLAs to credit the government’s successes to the CM.
