Speaking at a public function here, Palanisamy also blamed the DMK for raising the Cauvery issue and said that they had no right to speak on Cauvery as the party failed to resolve the issue when they were in power. He also pointed out that the state government was taking adequate measures to tackle the drought situation.
Earlier, speaking at a public meeting in Salem late on Sunday, Palanisamy said, “We have both the party as well as the government on our side. More than 90 per cent of AIADMK’s district functionaries and elected representatives are with us. We agreed for talks to bring the two AIADMK factions under one umbrella. But, we are not worried if the AIADMK’s Puratchi Thalaivi Amma wing boycotts the talks,” Palanisamy told party functionaries. The Chief Minister made these remarks while addressing the Salem Urban District unit functionaries at the party’s district office at Angammal Colony.
“They (OPS faction) first called us for unconditional talks for bringing the two factions under one umbrella. Whereas now they are purposely putting forward a host of demands to hinder and delay the process. A vehicle needs two wheels to travel. We have both the wheels (the party and the government),” he said and termed O Panneerselvam faction as a vehicle without wheels.
