Plea for CBI probe into murder, deaths
Activists and political parties have demanded a CBI probe into the Kodanad estate murder case and related incidents.

“It cannot be treated as the murder of just another watchman. Similarly, the deaths of suspects in road accidents cannot be taken lightly,” National council member of the People’s Union for Civil Liberties S Balamurugan said.
Strongly suspecting them to be political murders, he felt that the Tamil Nadu Police would not be able to do much justice to the case. “On Saturday night, the Superintendent of Police of The Nilgiris said that the deaths of Kanagaraj and Sayan’s wife and daughter in another accident are being probed by the respective police teams in Salem and Palakkad. All these cases should be looked into by an independent agency,” he added.
On the other hand, Tamil Nadu Makkal Urimai Katchi president Poomozhi expressed concern over the CBI independently investigating the case. “In recent cases, CBI is being used as a whip of the Centre for political motives. A sitting Supreme Court judge should monitor the CBI probe. They should also probe into Jayalalithaa’s death,” he said.
