Another nephew aspires to rise, Vivek vying for TTV Dinakaran’s post

Vivek was the only member of the clan to have inspired confidence in deceased Jayalalithaa even when the rest remained banished. He is understood to be vying for the deputy general secretary post currently held by his relative Dinakaran. 

The young MBA graduate who was also the CEO of Jazz cinemas, one of the business ventures of the family, may settle for AIADMK youth wing head post if the deputy general secretary position proves to be a tall order. AIADMK sources close to the family told DTNext that Vivek has been lobbying through a former minister from Karur district who had convened a meeting of 19 MLAs a few days back. “Unlike other family members, he is not involved in any controversy. He lived in Poes Garden even when Amma had kept others away and he can also bridge the gap between Dinakaran and Divakaran,” said a party senior requesting anonymity. That Vivek’s primary party membership bears “81, Vedha Nilayam” as his address should explain the privilege he had enjoyed.

“Divakaran has consented to Vivek’s elevation so that the family would not be completely sidelined,” said another source, claiming that the family still enjoys the support of 30 plus MLAs who are ready to topple the government if OPS or EPS attempt to sideline the family completely. Meanwhile, rumours abound about Sasikala issuing an elaborate statement on the prevailing political chaos in AIADMK anytime soon.
