They all wanted him to continue as the party leader in addition to deputy general secretary TTV Dinakaran and general secretary VK Sasikala.

This move would enable Palanisamy to interact directly with the Election Commission on party-related issues in the absence of Dinakaran and Sasikala.

Meanwhile, the recent developments, including the statements by certain leaders of the AIADMK (Amma) faction, have raised doubts over the merger talks between the two groups of the party.

Sources close to former minister and AIADMK (PTA) faction’s merger talks committee member K Pandiarajan stated that something could be expected on Saturday. “Our leaders are having discussions and a positive outcome can be expected over the weekend,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dairy Minister Rajenthira Balaji told the media in Srivilliputhur that “There is nothing wrong in AIADMK (PTA) leader O Panneerselvam becoming the Chief Minister again.”

He further added that work on former chief minister Jayalalithaa’s ‘manimandapam’ would commence next month by which time, both AIADMK (A) and AIADMK (PTA) would be united.
