CBI probe into Jayalalithaa's death if Madras HC orders: AIADMK(A)

The proposed merger talks failed to start today as AIADMK(PTA) members did not turn up at the AIADMK HQ on Monday. AIADMK(A) committee leader and MP R Vaithilingam said that if the Madras High Court orders a CBI probe on Jaya's death, the government will do it.

A PIL over Jayalalithaa's death is pending before the Madras High Court and if a CBI probe is ordered, the government will do it, said MP R Vaithilingam of AIADMK (A) camp.

He also added that if O Panneerselvam intended to order a probe, he should have done so, when he was the Chief Minister. He also added that the appointment of Sasikala as general secretary is pending before the Election Commission.

He also appeals to AIADMK Puratchi Thalaivi Amma faction to come forward for talks.

What seems to have irked them is AIADMK(PTA) talks committee leader and former minister KP Munusamy's statement that the rival camp was being manipulated by somebody else. "In such a situation, talks cannot be fruitful", he said "as they will have to talk to their manipulator frequently before deciding on any issue."

Vaithilingam added that they were ready for talks as "there is no issue for which a solution can be found through talks."  His charge that AIADMK(PTA) members were talking as they liked resulted in Munusamy stating that there were only two pre conditions for talks including the state government ordering a CBI inquiry into former CM Jayalalithaa's death and the total removal of the Sasikala family from the party.

Vaithilingam said he had sent SMS to Munusamy  and talks committee member and former MLA JCD Prabakar, but there was no reply. He added that that talks information was conveyed to former speaker PH Pandian's son Manoj who replied that would be possible only if the two preconditions were met.
