Boys drown in check dam near Sathyamangalam

The incident came to light only late in the night after parents found the clothes of the boys close to the check dam. Hasanur Police said that the boys C Sudeep and P Sidduraj of Panagahalli village near Thalawadi in Sathyamangalam taluk were students of government schools. 

It is learnt that on Sunday evening they went to the check dam near the Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve for a swim. They got stuck in the sediments and drowned. Their parents launched a search and Fire and rescue services personnel retrieved the bodies. 

K Saravanan (33) of Nangavalli near Mecheri in Salem District was reportedly beaten to death by unidentified persons. He was found dead at a temple. According to police, Saravanan was married to Lavanya (28).It is said that the couple frequently quarrelled over his addiction to alcohol. They quarrelled on Sunday and Saravanan hit Lavanya with a log. She was rushed to Mettur GH. 

On Monday morning, Saravanan was found motionless at the temple in the village. Police who were alerted confirmed that he had been beaten to death.
