DMK calls district secretaries meet on April 28
Close on the heels of the two warring AIADMK factions setting up panels to discuss the terms of an eventual merger, the DMK has called for a meeting of its district secretaries on April 28. The party’s working president MK Stalin would chair the meeting at the party headquarters Anna Arivalayam, announced K Anbazhagan, DMK general secretary, on Saturday morning.

Stalin could also take inputs from his functionaries on the state’s political climate and public mood, mainly when the future of the AIADMK regime hangs in balance during the interactions with district leaders. Party insiders suggest that the DMK would show extra interest in ascertaining the level of public acceptability or the lack of it for former chief minister O Panneerselvam.
Stalin was also understood to have asked his lieutenants to give their feedback on the dissolution of PWF and the political impact the recent visit of the two Left parties and VCK to Anna Arivalayam could have in the ensuing civic elections. High on the agenda would also be the formulation of strategies for upcoming local body polls, which could not be deferred any further than July end due to the order of the Madras High Court.
The district secretary meet would be the second in the history of the DMK to be held without party president M Karunanidhi.
