DMK working president MK Stalin has urged the Narendra Modi regime not to trigger another anti-Hindi agitation.

Questioning the haste shown by the ruling BJP in getting the President’s assent for the legislation mandating use of Hindi by Union Ministers and central board schools, Stalin warned the ruling BJP not to trigger another anti-Hindi agitation by converting India in to a Hindi nation.Â
Reminding the Centre of the sacrifices made and victories achieved by the Dravidian movement since 1938 in its fight against imposition of other languages (Hindi and Sanskrit) on mother tongues, Stalin urged the Modi-led regime to immediately stop thrusting Hindi directly and indirectly on non-Hindi speaking people.
Accusing the BJP government of trying to destabilize the integrity of the country since its return to power, the DMK working president said the government has been trying to thrust for Hindi and Sanskrit at every opportunity to disturb the plurality of the country.Â
Stalin also asked why the Centre did not show the same urgency to receive the President’s nod for TN government’s Bill seeking to exempt poor rural students from NEET, as it did for notifying the circular mandating the use of Hindi. Asserting that the Centre should declare Tamil and other languages mentioned in schedule VIII of the Constitution as national languages, Stalin said that it was against the Constitution to impose Hindi.
