CITU holds rally in Pondy

They were demanding fixing of minimum wage at Rs 18,000 a month, setting up of a welfare board for unorganised sector labourers, provision of all essential commodities through the ration shops, security to women labourers, revival of textile mills among other things. 

To press their demands, the volunteers took out a procession from the Anna statue. Police blocked them at Immaculate Conception Cathedral. They held a demonstration there. Police allowed their representatives to meet the Chief Minister and submit a memorandum.
