Centre, Tamil Nadu ‘duping’ people: Stalin

Reiterating that both the Centre and the State government have been playing a dual role in the hydrocarbon extraction project to be undertaken at Neduvasal in Pudukkottai on Wednesday, the DMK working president and Leader of Opposition Party MK Stalin said that the DMK will lead the protests when Neduvasal residents resume it.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a party function here, Stalin pointed out that other ministers, including the Chief Minister, have ensured that they will never allow the extraction of the hydrocarbon project from Tamil Nadu since the people have been opposing it. “We (Opposition parties) demanded a special ordinance on the issue on par with Jallikattu but they (Cabinet) remained silent without paying attention to our demand. Now, as feared, the Centre has signed the MoU. This is clear evidence that both the Centre and the State are unmindful of the welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu,” Stalin stressed.

Meanwhile, he also charged that the BJP leaders from Tamil Nadu like Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan and State president Tamilisai promised the residents of Neduvasal that they would always stand by the people and the Union government will never be able to establish a project that the people oppose. “Now, the BJP’s dual stand has been exposed and the state government has indirectly been supporting the Centre,” Stalin said.

Stating that the protest by TN farmers in Delhi has received a lot of support, Stalin again accused the CM and his cabinet of not supporting the farmers.“But DMK MPs have visited them and arranged meetings with Rajnath Singh and Jailey,” Stalin said.
