He was the vice president over the last three years, prior to which he was the national youth wing secretary. He said that the party has extensive plans for youth and women empowerment through focused programmes. “One of the key factors for success in the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls was campus ambassadors who passed on several vital information about Central Government to the college students,” he said.

Muruganandham said that they have 600 students functioning as campus ambassadors in many colleges in Tamil Nadu. “While many are interested in being campus ambassadors we are only selecting efficient persons as it is a very responsible position that has to deal with spreading the Prime Minister’s message to students and giving us a feedback,” he added.

Expressing the need for more campus ambassadors he said that they were in the process of training more youth to be deputy campus ambassadors and co-ambassadors who will play a supportive role for the existing campus ambassadors from June.

“By then we will be having 2,000 campus ambassadors. We are looking at having one such ambassador for every department in the college,” he said.

Stating that they are also in the process of identifying and training ambassador in colleges where they are yet to have their presence, they are trying to increase the number of students and youth downloading the ‘Namo App’ the official mobile phone application of the Prime Minister to reach out to the digital populace.

The national youth wing is also planning to organise State level expos at the Capital cities to provide a platform for innovative students and youth from Class 6 to college students and open category to exhibit their innovative projects and ideas. “We will help them get patent rights and become entrepreneurs,” he added.
