Election Commision decision on Two Leaves by March 22

This follows the EC asking jailed AIADMK General Secretary VK Sasikala to give her reply on the issue on or before March 20, sources added. With bypolls to the prestigious RK Nagar Assembly segment slated to be held on April 12, campaigning is expected to start in earnest after the scrutiny of nominations on March 23.  Sources in the OPS camp revealed that the highpressure campaign will be undertaken only after the EC settles the symbol issue.

The Sasikala camp revealed that its official candidate TTV Dinakaran pins his hopes on meeting voters individually based on the good work done here by Jayalalithaa. OPS faction candidate and Presidium Chairman E Madhusoodanan is banking on being a local and the 1991 winner in the constituency. 

“I was twice the alternative (dummy) candidate for this constituency when Jayalalithaa contested,”  he said.   DMK candidate does not face issues which AIADMK faction candidates face and has already started his door to door campaign. MGR Amma Deepa (MAD) Peravai Deepa Jayakumar began her work by participating in the Peravai meeting in the locality.
