Stating that there was no semblance of transparency in allotment of tenders in the AIADMK regime and only those contractors close to the ruling party were being awarded government projects, Stalin, in a statement, said that e-tendering was not being followed by various state government institutions still.

Accusing the government of ‘introducing’ new rules to favour contractors chosen by the ruling dispensation, Stalin said that even tender forms were reportedly being issued only to contractors

    supporting the ruling party.

Referring to the Tender Transparency Rule enacted and enforced in 1998 during the then DMK regime, the Leader of Opposition alleged that the ruling dispensation, which is keen on securing the loyalty of the 122 MLAs who were kept in the Koovathur resort, does not seem to be intent on ensuring transparency in awarding government projects.

Urging the government to take steps that would not give room to corruption and commission in finalisation of tenders, Stalin asked the Chief Minister to use his office to protect the state exchequer and not to secure just the loyalty of the 122 MLAs supporting his government.
