Volunteers protest against NEET, arrested
As many as 50 volunteers of different social organisations were arrested when they picketed the office of the Director of Health and Family Welfare Service and the Rajnivas demanding exemption for Puducherry from the National Entrance and Eligibility Test (NEET).

The volunteers picketed the office of the Director, Health Service demanding that the territorial administration should expedite the process of publishing an ordinance exempting Puducherry from NEET after obtaining the nod of the president of India.
The volunteers who floated the “NEET opposition committee” pointed out that a bill in respect of selection of students for UG medicine and Dental courses through the Centralized Admission Committee(Centac) of the government was passed in the territorial assembly and forwarded to the Lt.Governor. The Lt.Governor should send this with due recommendations to the union home ministry to get it’s approval and then publish an ordinance after getting the clearance of the union health and family welfare ministry and Law ministry,besides the nod of the president.
This process should be expedited,they said. To press the demands,they picketed the Health Director’s office today .Grand Bazaar police intervened and asked them to disperse. however, they demanded that health minister Malladi Krishna Rao should come and hold talks with them and they would continue the agitation till then.When police tried to re move them ,they all ran away and assembled in front of the Rajnivas .They also picketed the car of the Director ,health and family welfare services.
