Indigo’s Madurai service takes off
Madurai Collector, K Veera Raghav Rao, inaugurated a new flight service, operated by Indigo from Madurai to New Delhi. The new facility would be operated via Chennai. This is the 37th domestic flight service of Indigo. This is also the first flight service of Indigo in Madurai and they are set to operate direct flight service to Hyderabad from March 26.

On March 1, a function was held to celebrate the entry of Indigo into Madurai. The Collector lit the traditional lamp and cut the cake to celebrate the occasion. The New Delhi flight was then given a ‘Water Salute’.
Director of Indigo, Adithya Ghosh, claimed that the company was happy to enter Madurai and be a part of it. He added that the company will utilise the rising demands of air travel in southern India. He went on to say that Madurai is an important cultural destiny in the country and with the new service even foreign tourists would be benefited.
The Collector claimed that the new service would not just facilitate domestic travel but will also be helpful for the people of southern Tamil Nadu who are working in foreign countries. The flight service is operated twice a day. It would take off from New Delhi in the morning and would come back to New Delhi in the night. It will be a round trip. From Madurai the two flight services would be operated at 1.20 pm and at 8 pm.
