Dhanush checked for birthmarks to settle ‘parent trap’

Karthiresan and Meenakshi filed a petition in Melur Judicial Magistrate Court claiming that Dhanush was their son and that he had run away from home when he was little. They approached the court demanding maintenance to the tune of Rs 65,000 per month. In response, Dhanush had filed a counter affidavit in the High Court claiming that he was born on July 28, 1983 at Egmore Children Hospital in Chennai, while the couple claimed that he was born on November 7, 1985 at the Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital. Dhanush also clarified that his original name was Venkatesh Prabhu and that he had completed his education in a private school at Saligramam, Chennai. He claimed that he had no connection with Melur and the case was frivolous. 

In the earlier hearings, original identity certificates were submitted in court by both the sides to prove their respective claims and the couple had also prayed for a medical examination to verify identification marks on Dhanush based on the details present in the certificates. The court admitted the demand and had ordered Dhanush to appear in person at the court. Dhanush, along with his parents Kasthuri Raja and Vijayalakshmi, appeared in court on Tuesday. When the case was heard, the Judge directed Dhanush to undergo the medical examination inside the Registrar’s office (Legal Services), where the Dean of Madurai GRH, Vairamuthuraja, and his team performed the medical examination. Following the examination, the Judge directed the Dean to submit the report by Thursday and adjourned the case to the same day. Dhanush was also directed to appear in court for the next hearing.
