CM Edappadi K Palanisamy forms panel to study pay recommendations
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy on Wednesday constituted a five-member committee to look into the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations of the central government and enable its implementation by the state government.

The committee members would include Additional Chief Secretary (finance), Principal Secretaries of the Home and School Education Departments and Secretary, Public and Administrative Reforms Department while IAS officer Dr P Umanath would be the member secretary.Â
The committee which will give its report on or before June end this year would suggest ways to implement the pay commission recommendations with revisions, if necessary, for government officials, teachers and employees of panchayat raj institutions of the state government.Â
The committee would also go into implementation of the revised pension/family pension recommended by the central government for TN retired staff. It would also look into suggestions offered by recognised associations which have requested to provide input.Â
The Seventh Pay Commission in November 2015 recommended a 14.27 per cent hike in basic pay at junior level, the lowest in 70 years. The recommendations cover 47 lakh central government employees and 53 lakh pensioners.
