‘Speculative’ questions irk Stalin

The Leader of Opposition in the Assembly was in Coimbatore to address the party’s state youth wing meeting, an event where around 1,250 persons from various other parties were to join the DMK and to attend a private function. 

Only photographers and videographers were allowed inside the hall where the youth wing meeting took place. They were asked to leave even before the meeting began with representatives of the party run TV channels stating that Stalin would meet the press later. 

As assured, Stalin came out to speak to the reporters amidst cadre raising the slogan ‘Varungaala Muthalvar Vaalga’ (praising him as the future chief minister). However, he refused to comment on the appointment of TTV Dinakaran as AIADMK’s deputy general secretary. When a journalist asked him about the purpose of DMK MLAs meeting at Chennai on Wednesday, Stalin replied – “I am the Leader of the Opposition. I have not called for any such meeting,” and questioned the reporter “Did you call them for the meeting?” 

Following this, he asked the reporters not to ask him questions based on mere speculations. The DMK leader dropped a hard smile and left the place. 

At Chinniyampalayam in the city, where about 1,250 persons from other parties had come to join the DMK, another representative of the party run TV channel told journalists that Stalin would interact with them at the airport. 

There, reporters of two leading TV channels hurried towards Stalin even as other media persons were watching and extended their mikes to get a few ‘important’ bytes. 

Stalin in a bid to evade the duo with mikes said he had already told them what he had to say and asked ‘why they were pointing their mics towards him at every place he went? Upset over this, an irked LoP quickly went inside the airport.
