Wealth of difference in evaluation of assets

Throughout her life thereafter, Jayalalithaa and three others accused in the case retained a battery of lawyers to contest the figures. Here is the table (rounded off to nearest digit), of wealth, as estimated by the DVAC, the trial court and the Karnataka High Court, as well as those by the four accused. 

For the common man, the image of disproportionate assets was reinforced after photographs of the ostentatious wedding of Jayalalithaa’s foster son and Sasikala’s nephew, Sudhakaran.
