Royal Enfield winners dedicate success to protesters across Tamil Nadu
Karuppannan from Arittapatti, one of the two Royal Enfield winners, could not even stand and receive his prize on stage or smile for a photo, because he was among the tamers who managed to stay in the ring from the beginning till the end.

Speaking to DTNext, Karuppannan said that he was a farmer and was into bull taming for close to 17 years. So far, Karuppannan has tamed 10 bulls in Theni district but what he won on Thursday was the costliest prize that he has ever received in the sport. He thanked the youngsters and college students who had protested for jallikattu.Â
Another winner of Royal Enfield bikes was Anbu Sivan. Though he had tamed just one bull, he was selected because of the bull he tamed. Anbu targeted the right bull and got the Enfield bike. He claimed that he had been into bull taming for five years and dedicated his success to his guru ‘Kalavasal’ Saravanan.Â
Karuppannan was followed by Sivakumar, of Mudalaikulam, who tamed seven bulls. Senthil from Manampatti and Prabakaran from Melur had tamed six bulls each and were placed third and fourth respectively. Fifth place was grabbed by Silambarasan who tamed four bulls. Â The bull of P Rajasekar, President of Jallikattu Peravai, was announced the winner in bull category.
